Buttered Noodles With Veggies

This simple recipe is a family favorite, and great for days when I’m not up to cooking a complex meal.


Buttered Noodles

1 16oz. package macaroni noodles ($1)

4 T. butter ( 31 cents)

Salt and pepper to taste (salt, negligible cost, pepper,  4 cents per 1/4 t.)

Prepare noodles as directed.  Drain, return to pan, add butter and mix well.  Salt and pepper to taste.

We’ll serve this with some steamed peas: 66 cents for a third of a bag of frozen peas, broccoli or green beans

Total cost to feed our family of 6: $2.01

Spice it up: add hot dogs at .25 each
