This warm and tasty meal makes a great breakfast on a winter morning. It’s super cheap, fairly healthy, and the kids love it!
Cinnamon Rice
2 c. dry parboiled rice (bought in bulk at Sam’s club – 24 cents)
8 T. brown sugar – 20 cents
2 t. cinnamon – 24 cents
16 oz milk – 44 cents
Grand total: $1.12 to feed the 4 kids
Prepare rice as directed. Add brown sugar and cinnamon and mix well. Divide rice evenly into 4 bowls, and add 4 oz. of milk to each bowl.
Spice it up: by adding raisins, chopped apples and/or chopped walnuts
my mother used to make this for us with leftover rice. be sure to heat the rice, as it gets hard when refrigerated.
